For the good times programs

Drawing upon her experiences as a teacher, counselor, author and trainer, as well as a lifetime in the entertainment business, Linda Henley-Smith provides an amusing and educational outlook on working, living, and surviving. Her programs are presented with humor, music, stories and an energy that is contagious. Audiences are encouraged to improve their "laughitudes" and enjoy an "attitude of altitude."

Speaking to women's organizations in churches is a special passion for me, since I have depended upon the Lord for guidance through troubled and difficult times throughout my entire life.

At one point, during a particularly devastating time of loss, I fell into despair and ended up losing everything; sleeping on the floor of an abandoned house. I was sinking quickly because I was depending on my own abilities to survive. I was estranged from my family and going nowhere fast, when I was reminded that my spiritual garden needed tending and my faith needed to be greater than my fear!

My life has been filled with addictions, abuse, disappointments and failures, but I have learned to keep my eyes fixed on God no matter what happens on my journey. And I've also learned that laughter is one of the best coping tools we have been given so I use it often and I use it gratefully!

At times, we are all cracked pots! But through God's love and our faith in that love, we can repair the broken vessel and know that it will be stronger where it was mended.

The scriptures tell us that in all things, we should find joy. That is what I'd love to share with you!

What Fruit is in Your Basket?

Most of us would like to think that we are kind, joyful and patient people; but how often do we really take a look at what Spiritual Fruits are in our personal baskets? Galatians tells us that we can only ripen these fruits--love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, when we strive to grow closer to Christ. How do we keep from getting all wrapped up in our egos and our daily lives in order to more effectively focus on walking in the Spirit?

The Cracked Pot

Most of us are cracked pots. We've had experiences that have left us broken and we might even have considered ourselves as failures or useless. What we need to understand is that no matter what has happened to us; physically or emotionally, we can always find restoration, and often we will be stronger and more beautiful than before! Kintsugi is a Japanese word meaning "golden joinery." It refers to the art of fixing broken ceramics with a lacquer resin made to look like solid gold. A vessel repaired by kintsugi will be stronger and more precious than before it was fractured. We are frail and imperfect people and the Lord chooses broken clay vessels to carry his most precious truth. If our destiny is altered and we take a different path…it can be more rewarding than the one we originally thought we should walk.

How to Live Like a DIVA (Delighting In Victorious Attitude!)

No matter what your gender is, you are meant to live like a DIVA because that stands for Delighting In Victorious Attitude. As we are told in Proverbs, a cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones! We were given laughter as a gift to help us cope and there is no reason why we shouldn't find joy in all things, if we indeed are a reflection of God's love!

Lose the WARTS!

We are told in the scriptures that we cannot add one day to our lives by worrying. All that happens when we worry and catastrophize, is that we lose the joy of the moment. If we truly believe that we are to lay our burdens before the Lord, we cannot nurture our WARTS…Worry, Anxiety, Resentment, Troubles and Stress! But how do we get rid of our worrisome nature? We will explore God's answer to that in this session!

Finding the Prize Inside

It's always exciting to open a box of Cracker Jack and dig through the layers to find that little prize hidden somewhere inside! We all have gifts hidden inside of us, too; talents we need to share and dreams that can be realized…but the layers of negative thinking such as guilt, remorse, fear and worry often make it hard to access those gifts. If we can learn to put things into proper perspective and stop dragging around things that no longer serve us well, we will find more joy than we ever could imagine.

Stonecroft Christian Women

"Linda, after your program, I raced to the exit doors to say good-bye to those who came. The comments were awesome! They loved you and want you back!! And we did have decisions for Christ! Two young ladies, who were non-believers, told me that they have never attended a session like yours but they could not stop talking about how wonderful your program was. They said they had never known Christians could be like that! You made a difference and we thank you!"

"Linda, words can never express how much I, as well as each woman in attendance appreciated your words of encouragement and the opportunity to laugh. Sometimes we get caught up in life and forget to laugh. You were amazing and everyone has been talking about you nonstop. Many of them have stated that they would love to have you back again next year. On a personal note I no longer look at you as just a speaker but a sister in Christ and a friend."

"This is the second time we have had Linda come and speak to our women (mostly Christians, but many guests as well). What I loved most is that she was open and shared some of her story, while at the same time encouraging the women to make a decision to enjoy life. She was motivational and very funny, touching all age groups. I heard nothing but positive feedback from the attendees. We absolutely loved her!!"
